Forest Park in St. Louis, Missouri

As a municipal park, there is none to compare. With 1300 acres of beautiful flowers, lakes, streams, and forests, you will never tire of visiting this park. There is a dual-path system so that some folks can be taking a leisurely stroll and others can be running at their hardest. The 1803 Louisiana Purchase

In its long history, Forest Park has been the site of several noteworthy events. In 1904 Forest Park celebrated the 100-year anniversary of the 1803 Louisiana Purchase. The event didn’t actually open until 1904 because more states and several foreign countries wanted to participate. There were over 1500 buildings connected by 75 miles of roadways. It was so huge that the Palace of Agriculture alone took up over 20 acres of Land. Information about The St. Louis Zoo can be found here.



1904 Summer Olympics

At the same time, Forest Park was hosting the 1904 Summer Olympics. There were fifteen Olympic competition events including diving, swimming, and water polo.


When You Visit

Forest Park gets more visitors per year than both Busch Stadium and the Gateway Arch combined. More than 12 million people visit each year. In 2022, Forest Park was acclaimed as the nation’s best city park by USA Today.
